We have officially reached our first 1,000 Twitter followers and 2,500 Facebook ‘likers’!! Thank you EVERYONE for linking, pasting, tweeting, and talking about us to your friends. Update: Project Beta

As some quick background, in case you missed our Interview with a Zombie, Project Alpha was the working title of our debut EP, City Streets, so naturally Project Beta is the working title of our follow-up release. (But it should probably stop here. I mean, can you imagine going through Project Gamma, Project Iota, Project Rho…)

But now for some NEWS on the new record!! If you tuned into The Great Unknowns on All Indie Magazine last Friday, you heard our new song, Darkness Hides Me, played by the always cool Mikey Jayy. If you missed it, check it out here!! It’s one of six brand new songs on the new release, which will also include two remastered songs from our City Streets EP.

We’ll have an online international digital release of our album on Friday, August 18! You’ll be able to download it on CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon, and a host of other online retailers, with physical copies available at our shows starting in September, and later online as well. We’ll have a release show in Switzerland, and in the fall we’ll be back Stateside to start gigging again in Sac and beyond!! We’re already excited about seeing all of you guys again!!

Reasons Sacramento rocks…

We love our Sacramento peeps so much!! Awesome, fun show at Old Ironsides last Friday thanks to the inimitable Jerry Perry, and a great surprise gig at the Elk Grove Relay for Life at Elk Grove High School on Saturday morning. These were our last shows in Sac before heading back to Europe — we’ll be back for our CD release in the fall! Now, it’s back to the studio for us, finishing up album art, long airplane rides, more stories, all kinds of fun stuff…

But more on this later.

‘City Streets’ Review…

Deer Park Avenue’s EP, City Streets, got a cool review yesterday from an awesome music and literature website, The Word Zombie. Here’s a quick clip…

["Over Again"] starts out with a pulsing guitar line, deliciously fat and warm in it’s sound. As it builds through the first verse to the chorus, you’re pulled along at a deceptively breakneck pace… It’s a beautifully constructed song – lush and inviting – but also flavored with a healthy pinch of punk attitude as it’s base. Think Sixpence None the Richer meets Green Day – in some strange and wonderful universe. “Over Again” is an infectious start to the E.P. – one that should hook listeners, propelling them through the rest of the tracks.
